Mary Gamarra Life Story

Mary Gamarra was born in Trujillo, Peru, but it wasn't until she moved to New York that she began to feel the call of journalism. Most of her 13 years in the city were spent learning the skills of the journalistic trade through school and firsthand experience. As a student at Hunter College, Mary studied journalism and literature, which led to an internship with the international branch with CNN. It was there that Mary learned that she could use television as a medium to promote and connect with the Hispanic community.

After CNN, Mary Gamarra moved to New York's Univision as a news editor and writer. Mary got to study current events close-up, but after a year, she had higher aspirations. Telemundo hired Mary as a producer for their show, Noticiero 47 at 11PM, which gave Mary the opportunity to put her skills to the test. She also had her own life-improvement segment, where she discussed how to make positive life changes.

Mary liked being in front of the camera, and after a time, she was ready for another change. She went to Dallas as a weather girl for Telemundo. Mary's camera presence made her a famous face, but she eventually traded in the Dallas gig for another Telemundo job for the morning show Cada Dia con Maria Antonieta.
