Melissa George Introduction

Whoever said rollerskaters can't become superstars is a damn liar, and Melissa George is the evidence.

Melissa George Life Story

Actress and model Melissa George is proof positive that you can drop out of high school and still be successful. Melissa fell in love with performing at an early age, and took over seven years of dance lessons. Her love of dance also translated well to the world of roller-skating, and George became an Australian national roller-skating champion and compete in the Junior World Roller-skating Championship in 1991. Of course, roller-skating doesn't pay very well, so she gave modeling a shot.

In 1992, she became Australia's Teenage Model of the Year and was discovered by a modeling talent agent. She soon was scene on Australian soap operas such as "Home and Away." Soon after, she set her sights on Los Angeles to try becoming an actress in Hollywood, but not before she first appeared nude in Australian Playboy. She quickly was offered small roles in films such has Dark City (Jennifer Connelly), The Limey and Mulholland Drive (Naomi Watts). She also had a small role in the cheerleader crime comedy Sugar and Spice with Mena Suvari and Marla Sokoloff.

After appearing in a few failed TV pilots, George was offered guest roles on shows such as Friends (Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox), Charmed (Alyssa Milano,Rose Mcgowan), and Monk. But it's her role on Alias (Jennifer Garner), that got national attention. For 23 episodes, she played Laureen Reed on the hit show.

She had her first starring role in a film in the remake of The Amityville Horror and also starred in 2007's vampire movie 30 Days of Night. These days, she plays the hot, sex-crazed patient of Gabrielle Byrne in HBO's "In Therapy." Her next movie will be Triangle (2009) co-starring Rachael Carpani.
