Mena Suvari is not a girl to mess with, she's got three brothers who went to The Citadel. The daughter of Greek and Estonian immigrants, Suvari was raised in Rhode Island, South Carolina, and California. During her teen years she modeled with the prestigious Wilhelmina Agency before she started acting. Her first roles came as guest spots on Boy Meets World and ER. In 1999 she won the hearts of dumb jocks with sensitive sides everywhere, when she played the glee club girl who got with the lacrosse player in American Pie. Continuing her trend of starring in movies with American in the title, Suvari next played a crazy teen in American Beauty. In 2000 Suvari reunited with American Pie co-star Jason Biggs in the movie Loser. 2002 brought along one of Suvari's craziest roles yet: a meth-head in the movie Spun.

Suvari was off the market for most of her rise to stardom, as she married cinematographer Robert Brinkmann in 2000. After five years of marriage, Suvari called it quits. In 2004 Suvari landed a guest spot on HBO's Six Feet Under, playing a lesbian poet. Gamers got a taste of Suvari in 2006 when she did voices for games in the Final Fantasy series. Suvari has recently shaved her head for a role in the 2008 film adaptation of Ernest Hemmingway's novel The Garden of Eden. In October of 2007, Suvari posed topless in the Italian Vanity Fair magazine.

Outside of acting, Suvari has done modelling for Lancome and is an avid poker player. She's also involved with breast cancer charities and anti-violence campaigns.

Mena is set to wed for the second time after accepting music producer Simone Sestito's proposal during a July 2008 Jamaican holiday. Suvari and Sestito have been dating for less than a year after meeting at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada. They were married on June 26, 2010 in a private chapel in Rome.
