Olesya Rulin Introduction

According to legend, Rulin was born in a small Russian village where her family made hats. Little did the people of this village know what lied in store for this young actress. Blockbuster titles such as Halloweentown High and High School Musical have made Rulin a star to 11 year olds 'round the world.

Olesya Rulin Life Story

As a kid she and her family emigrated from Russia to the US, where they settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. Once in Utah her father set up, in the spirit of hat making, a taxadermy shop. In her high school years, which would heavily influence her performances in High School Musical and High School Musical 2, Rulin set up a charity called "Project Orphanage" which helped orphans in third world countries.

Rulin's first taste of acting came in 2001 when she played the role of Annie in the classic Disney Channel time machine comedy The Poof Point which co-starred Tahj "Smart Guy" Mowry. She followed that performance up with parts as Girl #1 in the Disney Channel's Hounded and Drunk Girl on the TV series Everwood. Rulin's next role would challenge her, as she played a character that was not human. In 2004 she played Natalie the Pink Troll in Halloweentown High, a film regarded by many as the finest of the Halloweentown trilogy. It was a tough role because an actress cannot study how trolls act or speak, but Rulin's performance was stunning. In her next project, Rulin decided to pay homage to her adoptive home state of Utah by acting in the movie Mobsters and Mormons a family film that took the mobster-ism of The Godfather and mixed it with the charm of Mormons.

In 2006 Rulin's career struck gold when she was cast in what was to become the greatest Disney Channel Original Movie made since Johnny Tsunami and that movie was High School Musical. In the film she played the role of Kelsi, the composer of the fictional musical Twinkle Towne. In 2007 she played the role again in High School Musical 2. She is now set to star in Big Move Star along side Jessica Simpson, and of course High School Musical 3.
