I spent two months on the set with Brian De Palma. I watched everything. Even then I didn't have any scenes I'd hang around just to be able to breathe the air.

Rie Rassmussen is a Danish model, actress, photographer, writer, director, and painter. She was first launched to international attention when Brian DePalma cast her in his erotic thriller, Femme Fatale. Immediately following that, she was made the worldwide face of Gucci. She now is writing and directing her own films, as well as continuing her acting career.

Rie Rasmussen was born in Denmark to an artist mother and an economist father. She has nine brothers and sisters, and was raised in the Danish countryside. She moved to New York at the age of fifteen, and briefly attended film school in Orange County, California. However, it was while on a trip to Paris that she caught the eye of director Brian DePalma, and was cast in his film Femme Fatale. Rebecca Romijn remembers seeing Rie hit on other girls in the nightclubs, and knowing that she would be right for the part.

Femme Fatale launched Rie’s career into the international spotlight. She subsequently became the exclusive worldwide face of Gucci, and followed that up by writing and directing her first short film, Thinning the Herd. Thinning the Herd played at Cannes in 2004. Her second short film, Il Vestito opened the Taormina Film Festival, and is an homage to Italian Neo-Realism.

Rie starred in the modern day black and whtie fairy tale Angel-A, a Luc Besson film set in Paris. She is readying her first feature film, as a writer-director, for production, as well as getting set to publish a book of her photography, painting, and illustrations. Is there anything that this woman can’t do?

Rie just completed her first feature film which she wrote directed produced edited and acted in. What other woman has done that in recent years? The title of the film is "Human Zoo"
