Roxanne Pallett

Roxanne 'Roxy' Pallett (born 26 December 1982 in Carlisle, Cumbria) is an English actress most famous for playing the role of Jo Sugden in the ITV soap opera, Emmerdale. In January 2006, she appeared in ITV's live music show Soapstar Superstar.

Pallett was born and brought up in Carlisle, Cumbria, by her mother and grandmother, where she attended Robert Ferguson Primary School and Trinity Secondary School. Also while taking part in Soapstar Superstar.

After completing a degree in media and cultural studies at Liverpool John Moores University, she was a founder member of the girl band Urban Angel. After being signed to a music producer, Pallett decided to pursue an acting career. In 2005, Pallett landed her first acting role as Jo Stiles in ITV's Emmerdale. In January 2006, she appeared in the reality singing competition Soapstar Superstar, finishing fourth. Fronting 2006's Maxim magazine. Loaded magazine(July 2008), and currently the face of Loaded (May 2009) Pallett also counts modelling for fashion publications such as Closer, Reveal, Mizz, Hello and OK amongst her work. Pallett has been nominated for awards as best actress at the British Soap Awards 2008 and TV Quick Awards 2008 and in August 2008, she confirmed she would be the public face of a campaign by the Women's Refuge that urges women to look out for early signs a partner may turn violent. Pallett took part in the fourth series of Dancing On Ice, which began on 11 January 2009. Pallett's professional partner was Daniel Whiston. She will be playing Hero in Much Ado About Nothing and Cobweb in A Midsummer Night's Dream with the British Shakespeare Company in their 2009 tour of the UK, Dublin, Norway and Prague.
