Born in Arlington, Virginia, she is the daughter of a German opera singer and a Pentagon contractor from Alabama. You probably can't tell by watching her movies, but her grandfather was a rocket scientist from Nuremberg. She lived in Germany until age twelve and she is fluent in German. She studied ballet and the vocal art known as singing when she was a child.

Although she found moderate success early in her career with films like Love Potion Number 9 and Who Shot Patakango?, it was until 1993 when Demolition Man put her on her way to stardom. By following it up with respectable hits like Wrestling Earnest Hemmingway, Speed and The Net she solidified herself as one of the biggest names in Hollywood.

She has a long list of films to her name and has earned more than $10 million for a role on multiple occasions. She has the proven ability to carry a movie and is often considered, alongside Julia Roberts, one of the most bankable female stars in the world.

She has her own production company and was an executive producer of the "George Lopez Show" (Masiela Lusha, Aimee Garcia). She also owns a restaurant in Austin, Texas.

Sandra Bullock Personal Life

In December of 2000, she survived the crash of a chartered jet at Jackson Hole Airport. The aircraft hit a snowbank instead of the runway, resulting in both the nose gear and nose cone being ripped off, the right wing partially separated from the aircraft and the left wing bent back.

She was staying at a hotel in downtown Manhattan during the September 11th attacks and went to a nearby hospital to offer help. She wound up using her Palm Pilot to send e-mails on behalf of patients wanting to contact their families because all the phone lines in New York City were down. She donated 1 million dollars to the Red Cross after 9-11 and another million to the Tsunami relief efforts three years later.

Sandra won the 2010 People's Choice Award for Best actress Sandra also won the 2010 SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role She also won an Oscar for Actress in a Leading Role for her preformance in the movie The Blind Side. She also won a Razzie award for worst actress. In June 2010 Sandra won The MTV Movie Award for Generation Movie Award, given to one actor/actress to recognize a remarkable carrer.
