Serena Jameka Williams, is an American former World No. 1 ranked female tennis player who has won eight Grand Slam singles titles and an Olympic gold medal in women's doubles. She is the last player, male or female, to have held all four Grand Slams at the same time. In 2005, Tennis magazine ranked her as the 17th-best player of the preceding forty years. She is the younger sister of another former world no. 1 professional female tennis player, Venus Williams. Yes, Serena is “the hotter one.”

Serena was born in Saginaw, Michigan. When she and her four sisters were young, their parents lived in the Los Angeles suburb of Compton, which, if you’ll remember from rap supergroup N.W.A.’s “Straight Out of Compton,” is “not known for tennis playin’.” Her father dreamed of making at least one of his daughters a tennis superstar superstar, hoping that involvement in sports would give them opportunity for a better life. Good call, Richard. When Serena was four and a half, she won her first tournament, and she entered 49 tournaments before the age of 10, winning 46 of them. At one point, she replaced her sister Venus as the number one ranked tennis player aged 10 or under in California. This likely resulted in hair pulling, name calling, and general cattiness.

In 1991, Richard Williams, saying that he hoped to prevent his daughters from facing racism, stopped sending them to national junior tennis tournaments, and Serena instead attended a tennis school run by professional player Rick Macci in Florida. Much to the Williams family’s chagrin, Florida’s lesser-known slogan is “If you like different, try Miami.” But they persevered and it paid off.

Serena became a professional tennis player in September 1995 at the age of 14. Because of her age, she had to participate in non-WTA events at first. Her first professional event was the Bell Challenge in Quebec, and she was ousted in less than an hour. By 1997, ranked number 304 in the world, she upset both Monica Seles and Mary Pierce at the Ameritech Open in Chicago. Monica Seles grunted.

Her period of dominance began in 2000, when Williams won the doubles gold medal at the Sydney Olympics with her sister Venus. She finished 2001 in the top ten for her third consecutive year. In 2002, she won the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open (where she wore her famous black catsuit). She defeated Venus in the finals of all three, bringing Richard Williams’ dreams of dominating the world of tennis with his army of progeny to fruition (insert mad cackle).

Here we are in 2007 and she’s as dominant as ever. She’s outlasted her sister, Venus, too. She’s expanded her brand into the entertainment industry, guesting on shows like The Simpsons, ER, and Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is her favorite show on TV. This declaration has made many wonder if Serena is actually an adolescent boy trapped in the body of a female pro tennis player, something that has not been seen since Monica Seles was found out to actually be eight-year-old Danny Williams, of Des Moines, Iowa.

Williams has her own line of designer clothing called Aneres — her first name spelled backward — that she plans to sell in boutiques in Miami and Los Angeles. Venus also appeared as one of her models, showing her latest designs. But Venus does not plan on her own line, as “Sunev” sounds like a Star Trek villain. Serena Williams 2009 US Open Incident

At the 2009 US Open in September, Williams came under fire for profane remarks she said to a judge after a disputed ruling. Her color comment went as follows:
"If I could, I'd take this fucking ball and shove it down your fucking throat."
Needless to say, she was docked a point and later had to make a public apology.
