Asian actress Qi Shu (舒淇) made the impressive leap from adult films to legitmate acting jobs.

Shu Qi is finally taking on American movies, after having great success as a Hong Kong actress. But before she made legitimate films, she was a nude model and stared in soft-core porn films throughout Asia. Among these films was the movie Sex and Zen.

She was able to breakout of the adult business by appearing in the critically acclaimed film Viva Erotica, a movie about the adult film industry. For that film, she won the Golden Bauhinia award for Best Supporting Actress. After showing the world that she can do more than just prance around naked, she was offered mainstream roles in films such as Jackie Chan's Gorgeous and Stanly Kwan's The Island tales.

She was even offered the role of Jiao Long in Ang Lee's award wining film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but her manager refused the offer because it interfered with a soft-drink commercials Qi was shooting. The role went to Zhang Ziyi. She has since made the jump to more American films by staring in the action movie The Transpoter.

She continues to make, on average, two films a year in Hong Kong.
