Sophie Raworth has presented the BBC's One O'Clock News since June 2006.
Before that she was co-presenter of the Six O'Clock News, which she presented with George Alagiah from January 2003. She had previously presented BBC Breakfast alongside Jeremy Bowen from its launch in October 2000.
Sophie joined the BBC regional trainee scheme in 1992 and went on to become a reporter for Greater Manchester Radio.
In April 1994, Sophie moved to Brussels to become Europe reporter for the regions.
In May 1995, she returned to Leeds to BBC Look North and it was here that she first presented the news, as well as continuing to report and produce it.
Sophie joined BBC Breakfast News in 1997, co-presenting the programme four days a week.
She also anchored the programme from Los Angeles on Oscars night, from Israel and from Washington during Clinton's impeachment trial.
Sophie has presented a number of BBC specials, including playing a major role in the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations presenting alongside David Dimbleby.
Sophie studied French and German at Manchester University and as part of her course she spent a year teaching English to teenagers in Toulouse.
On completion of her degree, she began a postgraduate course in broadcasting and journalism at City University, London.
Sophie was born in 15th May 1968 and lives in London.
Having admitted only having had three boyfriends. Sophie married her old friend, estate agent Richard Winter of Savills in Hammersmith and Fulham, London, in December 2003, after he proposed to her on the Amalfi Coast. The couple have two daughters, both born in Kensington and Chelsea, London: Ella Rose (born 2004) and Georgia Grace (born late 2005 / early 2006) and a son Oliver (born March 2008); they live in West London. Raworth is good friends with Five News presenter Kate Gerbeau.
