Susan Cookson (Born 20 April 1965 in Manchester) is an English television actress. Until August 2008, she was a cast member of BBC One's BAFTA winning medical drama Casualty, playing Dr Maggie Coldwell.

She returned for one episode at the end of March 2009, on the day that co-stars Janine Mellor and Ivana Bašić left the series. This is Cookson's second role on the programme having appeared in Series 13-14 as an occasional character, anaesthetist Julie Day. She lives in Sheffield with her husband, actor Malcolm Scates, and her two children Ruari and Dan. She also has two sisters.

Finally, she won Fave Female of Series 21 of Casualty last year, (2007) in the www.holby.tv awards. Susan Cookson first fell in love with acting when she was working as a costume designer in a local theatre. The casting director promised her a role on stage and since then, she has never looked back. She is arguably one of the most loved characters 'Casualty' has ever seen and both Susan and her character 'Maggie Coldwell' have large fanbases of all ages.It was announced on 25th July 2008 on the Digital Spy website that Susan had quit her role as Maggie after three years. On 24th April 2009, it was announced that Cookson would appear in an episode of new BBC daytime drama Moving On, along with former Casualty co-star Luke Bailey. Other stars include Shelia Hancock, Bhasker Patel, Mark Womack, Richard Armitage, Christine Tremarco, Dervla Kerwin, Ian Hart, Julia Ford, Lesley Sharp and Joanne Frogatt. The executive producer is Jimmy McGovern.
