Sushmita Sen Life Story
Bollywood star Sushmita Sen might not be a household name here in the states, but she is the Natalie Portman of India (she's not only gorgeous, but she can act too!). Her first shot at stardom came when she entered the Miss India competition when she was 18 years old. She would go on to win the title in an upset against the favored Aishwarya Rai. Sen would go on to become win the title of Miss Universe in 1994.
When her duties as Miss Universe were over, Sen decided to try her hand at acting in the widely popular Bollywood films. Though her first few films received dismal reviews and low audience turnout, she quickly became more confident in front of the camera and would eventually win several acting awards, including the Film Fare Award in 2000 for Best Supporting Actress in the film Biwi No. 1 and won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Zee Cine ceremony for that same film.
Her other film credits include, Main Hoon Na, Leela and Alag. While you might not be familiar with the films, they were huge hits in India. She continues to be one of the most popular Bollywood actresses, making four films in 2006, and three films thus far in 2007. With her natural bueaty and impressive acting talents, one can only hope she decides to head to America and take on Hollywood.
