Taryn Manning Life Story

Born in Virginia and raised in Arizona and California by her mother. She was the state Karate Champion of Arizona as a kid and won a national dance competition when she was in high school in California. At 16 she enrolled in an acting class attended by then unknown actresses Lee Lee Sobieski and Erika Christensen. Her first real success as an actress came in the short lived series “Get Real” which also featured performances by Anne Hathaway, Mila Kunis, and Christina Milan. In addition to a variety of television appearances, she has had roles in the films 8 Mile (2002), Cold Mountain (2003) and Hustle and Flow (2005).

In 2003 she formed the electronica/ pop band BoomKAT with her brother, Kellin. Their debut album Boomkatalog One included the single “The Wreckoning” which hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart.

Apart from acting, singing and dancing, she runs a clothing line with her friend called Born Uniqorn and she is third cousins with Quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning.

In the fall of 2010 Taryn will star on the reboot of the "Hawaii Five-0" TV series on CBS.
