Introduction

Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Taryn Southern spent her childhood performing in regional plays and music theatre, landing her first lead role as the young Jane Eyre in the pre-Broadway musical "Jane Eyre," written/directed by Les Miserables' John Caird.

In her teens, Taryn ventured into the world of television hosting and lead several teen talk shows on the WB and PBS. After high school, she attended the University of Miami to study cultural anthropology and journalism.

Career

Taryn Southern was first introduced to the public in 2004 when she made American Idol season three's Top 50.

After graduating college at 19, Taryn headed to Los Angeles. Within a year, she landed her first role in the film Senior Skip Day, hosted two television pilots and the red-carpet for the Young Hollywood Awards and the Golden Globes, co-produced a documentary on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Taryn is the first person to have sold two television shows - scripted and unscripted - based on produced online content. In 2006, she executive produced and starred in Project MyWorld, the first ever original television series on DirecTV, in which she traveled the world and met her friends on MySpace. In 2009, Taryn sold a half-hour comedy pilot to MTV known as Private High Musical, based on a web series that Taryn had written, produced, and starred in.

Additionally, she starred in one of the first web series ever, Sorority Fever, on WB.com.

She also recently appeared in the highly popular He Puts It In The Wrong Hole at Break.com.
