Theresa Russell Introduction
Theresa Russell (born March 20, 1957) is an American actress. Pete Townshend of The Who once stated that Russell was the inspiration for his song, "Athena", which was first called "Theresa".

Early life and career
Russell was born Theresa Paup in San Diego, California, the daughter of Carole Platt (née Mall) and Jerry Russell Paup. She attended Burbank High School, but did not graduate. Young Theresa was discovered by a photographer at the age of twelve and also modeled before dropping out of high school to study at the Lee Strasberg Institute before making her film debut in 1976, at age nineteen, in The Last Tycoon opposite Academy Award winning actor Robert DeNiro.
after Theresa's film debut in The Last Tycoon, numerous subsequent film roles would come for her in the late 1970's and the 1980's, which included Straight Time (1978), Bad Timing (1980), The Razor's Edge (1984), and Black Widow (1987). She would appear in six films that were directed by British director/screenwriter Nicolas Roeg in the eighties, which included Insignificance (1985), Eureka (1983), and Track 29 (1988). She would marry Roeg in 1982; they have two grown sons from their marriage together, Statten (born 1983) and Maximillian (born 1985); Roeg and Russell would divorce by the end of the decade.
1990's-2000's film roles
More roles would come during the 1990's, continuing into the new millenium; Impulse (1990), Wild Things (1998) opposite Neve Campbell and Denise Richards, and Spiderman 3 (2007). Theresa also was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history by finishing 58th in 1995. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
