Tia Carrere Introduction

The exotic beauty and actress, Tia Carrere, had dreams of becoming a singer, when she was discovered in a grocery store by a movie producer, and offered the movie role of Lani in 1988's Aloha Summer.

Tia Carrere Life Story

She put her music career on the back burner and focused on acting, landing roles on TV shows such as General Hospital, MacGyver and Airwolf. She even had a guest role on an episode of The A-Team, and rumor has it her character would eventually join the team, had the show not been canceled.

Her work on TV eventually lead to her playing Mike Myer's girlfriend Cassandra in the only funny SNL spin-off movie Wayne's World in 1992. Two years later, she would play opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and a young Eliza Dushku in True Lies. In 1993, her debut album Dream was released and went platinum in the Philippines. In 2003, Carrere was awarded the lifetime achievement award by Philippine president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Carrere returned to the small screen in 1999 to star in the syndicated series, Relic Hunter, an obvious Tomb Raider rip-off that lasted 66 episodes. In 2003, she posed nude for the January issue of Playboy and in 2006 appeared on Dancing with Stars, though she fell too often to win. Her second album, Hawaiian, was released in 2007 and she is currently working on the film Dark Honeymoon with Daryl Hannah and Roy Scheider. She is married to photojournalist Simon Wakelin. She has also done voice work on cartoons, including on "Duck Dodgers and Disney's "Lilo & Stitch".

April 2010 Reports state that Tia is filing for divorce from her husband, photo journalist Simon Wakelin. The divorce papers also say that Tia is filing for sole custody of their 4 yr old daughter
