Tiffany Pollard Introduction
You probably know her as New York, the focus of several VH1 Reality Shows, where her loud mouth and attitude have made her a star.
Tiffany Pollard Life Story
Tiffany Pollard (aka New York) is probably best known as the star of several VH1 reality shows. Her rise to infamy came courtesy of the reality show Flavor of Love, where she was among the female contestants vieing for rapper Flava Flav's affection. Flava Flav gave her the moniker New York. Her combustible temper and somewhat sleazy demeaner helped make New York the stand-out star. During the second to last episode, a fight broke out between New York and Brooke Thompson aka Pumpkin. When Thompson was eliminated she took her anger out on New York by spitting in her face. The two were quickly separated, only to have quasi-rematch during the Flavor of Love Season 1 Reunion. Despite her charm, New York did not "win" the first season of Flavor of Love, with Nicole Alexander claiming Flava's heart.
But Flav and his producers knew that New York was a fan favorite and brought her back mid-season for Flavor of Love season 2. Unsurprisingly, she caused more conflict, berating Flav and the other girls throughout the show and most notably in the season finale. Flav and New York would later reconcile and claimed to be friends on the Season 2 Reunion show. Though the other contestants were less kind to New York and repeatedly tried to start fights with her during the reuniont is speculated that during the reuion show and physical fight broke out and contest Larissa "Bootz" Aurora punched New York. The two were separated and all the contestants were asked to leave.
New York returned once again to VH1 in her own show I Love New York, where she weeded out male contestants to find Mr. Right. The show premiered on January 8, 2007, and as expected quickly became a hit thanks to New York's sassy attitude and the comically aloof contestants. In the season finale, contestant Patrick "Tango" Hunter proposed to New York, who accepted. But at the reunion show, Tango ended the relationship, feeling that New York disrespected on the show.
In April 2007, VH1 announced plans for a second season of I Love New York shooting in July 2007. The second season maintains the same premise as the first season of I Love New York, in addition to an online casting process by fans. In the finale of I Love New York 2, contestant "Tailor Made" (real name George Weisgerber) proposed to Pollard, but was turned down. During the I Love New York 2 reunion special, "Tailor Made" proposed a second time and Pollard accepted.
A confirmed spin-off of I Love New York called New York Goes to Hollywood began airing on August 4, 2008. The show stars New York as she goes throughout Hollywood to find an acting job. Tailor Made will not star in this reality show. "To focus on her new mission, New York has to put her last conquest, Tailor Made, on the backburner as she tries to take on Tinsel Town."
Aside from the VH1, New York has used her infamy to start an acting career and has appeared in an episode of Nip/Tuck. She was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2007. She also had a small feud with Hot 97 Radio host Miss Jones. During a on-air phone call, Miss Jones asked what school New York graduated. After a brief pause, New York answered that she went to Syracuse University, not knowing perhaps that Miss Jones also went to Syracuse. Suspected a lie, Miss Jones interrogated New York on specifics of Syracuse University, and when it was clear that New York was lying, Miss Jones hung up and ended the interview.
Though most know her as New York, Tiffany Pollard also goes by the self-appointed nickname HBIC, or Head Bitch In Charge.
