How to Make It

Add the whiskey, apple cider and ginger beer to a punch or rocks glass with a shot of Angostura bitters. Stir, add a large ice cube or handful of regular ice and garnish it with a lemon slice.

Why We Like It

Aside from Thanksgiving dinner, as far as I’m concerned, the most important flavors of the fall come from whiskey, apples, and ginger. This easy Fall Whiskey Punch combines all three to make a not-too-strong drink that both you and your mother-in-law will enjoy.

Because it’s a simple recipe, this can easily be made in big batches to serve lots of people over the holidays or you can make it for one or two. If you’re making it in batches, mix the whiskey with cold cider and ginger beer immediately before you plan to serve it, and garnish each drink with a dash of bitters and a lemon or lime slice (or a cinnamon stick if you’re feeling fancy).

Just be sure to use a spicy ginger beer like Gosling’s, Fentiman’s or Reed’s — and definitely don’t try to substitute ginger ale or you’ll end up with something watered down and not very good or festive.
