Add the rum and syrup to a pint glass, stir it well and add a handful of ice. Top it all off with 3 ounces of cold grapefruit soda and 4 ounces of cold beer. Stir it gently, garnish it with the lemon wheel and enjoy.

Ease into the season with this fruity beer cocktail, Friday Night Light, made with a little bit of booze, a fair amount of beer and lots of light, fruity flavors reminiscent of summer. I used Boulevard Brewing Company’s Tank 7, a farmhouse ale with strong Belgian yeast notes and hints of grapefruit hoppiness, but if you can’t find that in your area, any quality farmhouse ale will do.
