Meyer Lemon Drop


  1. 2 ounces vodka
  2. 1 ounce freshly-squeezed Meyer lemon juice
  3. 1 ½ teaspoons sugar
  4. Lemon wheel or peel for garnish

How to Make It

Add the vodka, Meyer lemon juice and sugar to a cocktail shaker along with a handful of ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a chilled stemless cocktail glass. Garnish with the lemon and enjoy. Optional: Before mixing, moisten the rim of the glass with a lemon slice, then gently roll the rim of the glass on a plate of sugar. 

Why We Like It

While I refuse to acknowledge the Lemon Drop cocktail as a martini, I do have to admit that it’s a tasty tipple. Made with vodka, lemon juice and sugar, it’s equal parts sweet, tart and boozy. What’s not to like? This seasonal version, made with Meyer lemon and served in a stemless glass, is no exception.

The Meyer lemon is thought to be a cross between a lemon and either a Mandarin or some other kind of orange. Flavor-wise, it definitely exists somewhere in the middle. Still tart like a lemon, it benefits from the addition of sugar. And, of course, vodka.

This recipe is easy to double, triple, etc.
