How to Make It
Add the wine, sugar, cloves, orange or clementine wedges and cinnamon sticks to a large saucepan or pot over low heat. Let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until it’s hot and the sugar has fully dissolved. Divide between four glasses or mugs (careful not to add cloves to the cup) and garnish each with a clove-spiked orange or clementine wedge, a cinnamon stick or both. Enjoy!
Why We Like ItSpiced wine is one of my favorite things to have going on the stove in December. It pretty much makes your house smell like a candle shop at Christmastime and it’s also a really great way to spice up (literally) a bottle of less-than-impressive red wine. I tend to use it for the bottles of Two Buck Chuck that accumulate around my house over the holidays.
You can get this going before a party, keep it simmering, and just ladle out servings as needed.
