How to Make It
Add the rum, apple cider and bitters to a double rocks glass and stir. Add a large ice cube or a handful of regular ice cubes, then top it off with the ginger beer. Garnish with the lemon twist and enjoy.
Why We Like ItIn a few short days, it will officially be fall. Instead of spending all of your hard-earned money on super-saccharine Pumpkin Spice Lattes, mix up a Harvest Moon — a spicy cocktail that also tastes and smells like autumn, but will give you a different kind of buzz.
The Harvest Moon calls for dark rum, but you don’t need to use the spiced kind. The spiciness comes from a few dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters as well as a spicy ginger beer. Just be sure to use a good one like Gosling’s, Fentiman’s, or Reed’s (and definitely don’t try to substitute ginger ale.)
