  2. 8 mint leaves
  3. 2.5 oz Bourbon
Print Drink Recipe

How to Make It

Place the mint leaves in the bottom of a julep cup (or an old-fashioned glass) and top with the sugar. Muddle these together until the leaves begin to break down. Add the bourbon and stir until the cup frosts. Add more ice to the drink and garnish with a sprig of mint. Serve immediately.

Why We Like It

While we’re big fans of innovation, when it comes to alcohol, the classics are classic for a reason. If someone tries to give you ‘their take’ on a Mint Julep at the Derby party you attend this weekend, you have our permission to dump it all over their seersucker suit and saddle shoes. The Mint Julep has staying power, and if you follow this classic preparation, you’ll see exactly why.
