How to Make It

Add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with the orange peel.

Why We Like It

Not every cocktail needs to be craft, or even very creative, to be good. And that’s exactly the premise of the new recipe book, Cocktails for Drinkers: Not-Even-Remotely-Artisanal, Three-Ingredient-or-Less Cocktails that Get to the Point, by Jennifer McCartney.

One of its more interesting drinks is The Revolver, a super-boozy, coffee-flavored wintry tipple created by California bartender Jon Santer. It’s “what German shepherds should carry in their flasks when they come to rescue you,” writes McCartney. Strong and slightly sweet, this is exactly what you should be drinking this weekend.

NOTE: The recipe calls for just a “dash of bitters,” but I used a heavy dash of orange bitters to play off of the orange garnish and it worked wonderfully.
