The 84th Academy Awards is this Sunday. For some people, this is a really big deal. For the rest of us, it’s just a great excuse to get tipsy. So here are two quick, easy Best Picture nominee-themed cocktails, courtesy of a couple of cool New York City joints. Take a drink every time Billy Crystal cracks an unbearably corny joke. In other words, constantly.
Midnight in Paris French Martini
“We chose a raspberry-and-pineapple-flavored martini because it resembles the bittersweetness of the newly engaged couple sorting out their challenges and life ahead of them,” says Chris Russel, director of operations at Southern Hospitality Restaurant. “We thought a martini would best represent their adventures through Paris.”
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/4 oz Chambord raspberry liqueur
1/4 oz fresh pineapple juice
1 twist lemon peel
Stir first three ingredients and strain into a cocktail glass. Add lemon peel garnish. Serve to Rachel McAdams.
“The Artist-tini is a Hollywood-inspired cocktail that resembles the simplicity of the film,” explains Darren Conway, bar manager at The Chandelier Room. “The mixology is effortless but elegant, combining only three ingredients and serving in a simple highball glass.”
1 1/2 oz SVEDKA Vanilla Vodka
1 oz Vermouth
1/2 oz Ginger Liqueur
Mix all ingredients in a pint glass filled with ice. Stir and strain into a martini glass. Serve in silence, of course.
