The question of whether the Washington Redskins’ name is offensive to Native Americans has been pretty much settled by entities as disparate as South Park and the U.S. Patent Office. But yesterday, The Daily Show sent correspondent Jason Jones to hear out some defenders of the moniker, including a woman who’s 1/12th Cherokee and several headdress-wearing tailgaters who didn’t want their faces on TV. Native American activists and comedians were interviewed as well. Despite the courage of their convictions, some pro-Redskins interviewees tried to get the segment pulled; one female Redskins fan called the police, claiming she was “forced into a threatening environment.” Little ironic, no?
