For six seasons of Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman have been one of the most hilarious duos on TV, as liberal vs. libertarian sparring partners in a midwestern city government. Parks is as funny as ever and is coming back for its seventh season next year; in the meantime, there are a few new comic duos you need to know about.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Created by the guys behind Parks and Recreation, this comedy about the gang of inept cops at a Brooklyn precinct is only halfway through its first season but it’s already the best comedy on TV. Golden Globe winner Andy Samberg stars as arrogant detective Jake Peralta, and his interplay with his superior, Capt. Ray Holt (the formerly intense dramatic actor Andre Braugher) is priceless. Tuesdays, 9pm Eastern, Fox
Mom. Produced by Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre, Mom stars Anna Faris (Scary Movie) and Alison Janney (The West Wing) as a mother-daughter pair of recovering alcoholics patching up their checkered relationship and dealing with Faris’s teen daughter’s pregnancy. Mom is just as raucous and laugh-out-loud as Men; Faris and Janney have the best chemistry on TV, whether they’re tackling taboos or classic sitcom-family conflicts. Mondays, 9:30pm Eastern, CBS<
