This November, five Vail-owned resorts will be offering a free service called EpicMix which, using RFID technology in your ticket, will record your day on the mountain and give you Xbox-style achievements and badges accordingly.
You can marry it to your Twitter and your Facebook so when you rip a bump run, your friends sitting in the office will know. Your friends and family can track your total vertical feat and lift variation so they know whether you’re really killing it like you say you are, or if you’re mostly just knocking back hot toddies in the bar. Other social features in the app include updates about which of your friends are on the mountain and where they are (like Foursquare), as well as updates to conditions and incoming weather.
