A pair of simple canvas sneakers often proves to be one of the most versatile items in a guy’s wardrobe. Even better when those sneakers happen to have an impressive backstory about saving the environment. Cue the enties Jameson 2 Eco ($65), the stylishly understated shoe at the center of etnies’ “buy a shoe, plant a tree” campaign.
Created with environmentally-friendly resources, the Jameson 2 Eco sits on a 20-percent recycled rubber tread, largely made from old bike tires and used rubber gloves. The laces are eco-conscious, too, and are composed in part of recycled plastic bottles. Apparently not content just to turn recyclables into shoes, etnies is also planting a tree in the Brazilian rainforest for every pair sold. The company ran the same program last year, resulting in 35,000 trees being planted in Costa Rica. This year, they’re up to 100,000 trees in Brazil.
Available now, the Eco comes in nine different colorways to help make your inadvertent globe-saving as personalized as possible. See them all and snag your own pair at etnies.com.
