The upcoming movie “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”, is kind of like “Sex in the City” except for boys in terms of fashion. The new movie is taking the style of the original Wall Street, from ’80s power suits and slicked hair that defined men’s fashion, to even greater heights of luxury (the movie is set right before and during the economic downturn of 2008). The film opens with Gordon Gekko reclaiming his belongings upon completing of his jail sentence. Among his HUGE cell phone, wallet and other items, you see his classic Cartier Santos watch. Many other iconic brands were chosen by the costume designer Ellen Mirojnick, to not only keep with the consistency of the first film but also with the current aspirational fashions of Wall Streeters today (Ellen was the designer on the first film as well).

There are some especially spectacular pieces. Josh Brolin’s character, Bretton James, wears Vacheron Constantin in the film. Brolin’s character wears a historical timepiece, the American 1921, which is a reinterpretation of a bold 1920s style from Vacheron’s archives. The watch, which retails for $26,500, is the ultimate symbol of wealth, status, and exclusivity — the perfect statement for Brolin’s powerful and ambitious billionaire character.

In addition, Shia LaBeouf wears an IWC watch and a sharp Belstaff leather jacket.  It’s a great men’s style story as Money Never Sleeps is sure to become the veritable men’s version of Sex and the City in terms of contemporary style, just as its predecessor was.
