What better costume idea than something ‘Financial Collapse’-themed? It’s all the rage these days. Just turn on any TV channel at any time during the day and you’ll get a face full of financial fail.
Here are some of our favorites:
1.) Evil Ben Bernanke
The bearded one, Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke has been in the spotlight for a long time as Alan Greenspan’s successor. He didn’t predict this new ‘Great Depression 2’ we’ve gotten ourselves in to, but it has meant a lot of extra publicity for him as he attempts to rescue us. Just one question though, were the horns really necessary?
2.) Evil Hank Paulson
Secretary of the Treasury, Hank Paulson, would be an excellent addition as a tag-team costume idea with a bud going as Bernanke. It might even be a great concept for your girlfriend too! Hear me out, seeing as how Paulson is the SECRETARY of the Treasury, maybe she can don a skimpy secretary outfit with this hideous Bailouter-In-Chief mask? God, what I would give to see a photo of that. Send them in!
But seriously, $79 for each of these masks? Who can afford that? Probably not the people actually affected by the very financial collapse they are lambasting. Ironic?
3.) Predatory Lenders
I really like this idea coming from the ‘BregenCountyForeclosures’ blog (Hmmm, I wonder if they have some sort of agenda here?) You remember the ‘Predatory Lenders’, those guys who sold adjustable ‘ballooning’ interest rate mortgages to homebuyers who couldn’t afford them? Yeah, they made one hell of a commission, but left a slew of foreclosures in their wake. What better way to personify them than with a Predator mask? Dude, you can never go wrong with the Predator – $64.95 here.
4.) Alan Greenspan Yoda
Can’t decide between being former Federal Reserve chairman (and speculated cause of the current crisis) Alan Greenspan, and your favorite little, wise, green Star Wars character? Now you don’t have to thanks to Forbes.com’s list of funny costumes from last year! Just looking at that list makes me remember the good old days pre-Wall Street meltdown. Not so ‘wise’ in hindsight, is he?
5.) Wall Street Banker Dog Costume
If you are cruel enough to dress up your dog in some uncomfortable little outfit while you trick-or-treat, at least have the decency to make it the coolest costume available. This year it’s officially the ‘Wall Street Dog’ costume. I believe that’s even a little Wall Street Journal in his hand.
