In the automotive industry it is not easy to lay off employees. Generally, it can hurt a whole town and takes a lot of high paying jobs out of the area. Ford needed to do it a long time ago but couldn’t do it when they were making billions because of the bad PR. Now is a perfect time. They will be cutting back and cutting costs. Unfortunately it is a reaction and not done as needed like most companies but when you have unions that control your every move, you have to wait until things get drastic until big layoffs can be made. Glad to see it happen. I want to see Ford get back on its feet. Two things will let them do this. Better designed cars and a lean company.
