I’ve made my fair share of jokes about Ebola alarmism — “Just don’t make out with anyone who’s bleeding out of their eye holes for a while and we’ll all be fine” — but if I’m being honest, recent news reports are beginning to sound like the prologue to a post-apocalyptic novel.

While this week’s cocktail may not save you from impending viral doom, it will at least make you a little more relaxed when it comes. The Cure is like a hot toddy, made with whiskey, honey and lemon, but without the tea. Because if this thing is traveling as fast as many fear it will, who has time to wait for water to boil?

The Cure can be served at room temperature, with ice, or warmed. If you prefer it chilled, be sure to add the ice as the final step, so the honey doesn’t thicken.

The Cure
3 ounces whiskey
1 tablespoon honey
1 lemon, juiced
½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
Lemon slice, for garnish

Add all ingredients to a glass and mix well with a whisk or wooden honey dipper. Garnish with a lemon, and enjoy.
