Bronco-Buzz

As mentioned in this week’s Cooking with Booze, now that we know who’s going to the Super Bowl, we can turn our attention to more important things, like what to eat and drink while we watch it. If you’re cheering for the Denver Broncos, I suggest you make yourself a Bronco Buzz or two.

This cocktail was inspired by the Colorado Bulldog — a drink made with vodka, coffee liqueur, cream or milk, and a splash of Coca Cola. The Bronco Buzz has a similar flavor profile, but because serving heavy cream to a bunch of people eating nachos and beer brats sounds like an awful idea (and dark soda is apparently going to kill you), I swapped out the heavy cream and Coke for cream soda. It’s a little on the sweet side, so I topped it off with a dash of Peychaud’s bitters. I think orange bitters would work well, too.

Don’t worry, Seahawks fans; you’ll get your own custom cocktail next Friday.

The Bronco Buzz

1 ounce coffee liqueur (like Kahlua; I used my homemade version)
1 ounce vodka
Cream soda
Bitters

Glassware: Rocks or highball glass. Or a plastic cup, whatever works for you.

Method: Add the coffee liqueur and and vodka to the glass. Fill it with a handful of ice, then top it off with cream soda and a dash of bitters. Stir gently and enjoy.
