The anticipation for Furious 8 just went into overdrive.
On the heels of the announcement a few months ago that F. Gary Gray, who directed the 2003 Italian Job remake, will be helming the next installment of the blockbuster franchise, we’ve learned that actress Charlize Theron will be wheeling a car in the new flick.
That’s the scoop from the entertainment news site, Deadline.com, which is reporting that Theron has been cast to play a leading role in the Universal film, which hits theaters April 17, 2017.
This certainly kicks things up a notch given the daring driving maneuvers Theron treated us to in The Mad Max: Fury Road as Imperator Furiosa. Of course, that wasn’t the first time the hot actress dazzled us with her driving skills. Theron also starred in Gray’s Italian Job, where she put a Mini Cooper through its paces.
Those antics will likely pale in comparison to the kind of action she’ll see in Furious 8 with Vin Diesel and the rest of the gang.
Oh, and note to Universal and Gray: If you’re looking for a few suggestions about what Theron should drive, call us. We can think of a few rides—including one we recently test-drove—that would be perfect for her in a villain or heroine role.
