Oliver Stone’s new crime thriller Savages finds Blake Lively navigating the dark underbelly of the North American drug market. That might seem like a departure in character for an actress who rose to fame on the teen drama Gossip Girl, but Lively is no stranger to the crime genre. She was arguably at her best as a drug-addled Bostonian in the gritty 2010 heist flick The Town, and Savages looks like it’ll deliver its fair share of grit. Until then, here’s a Lively bio-gallery.
Lively is best known for her role as a privileged upper-crust New Yorker on Gossip Girl.
Her first acting job was a role in the film Sandman—which was directed by her father, Ernie Lively—when she was 11.
She stopped acting for a number of years, but picked it up again when she was offered a role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005.
Lively shot to fame after she was cast in The CW’s Gossip Girl in 2007.
She has received critical praise for her dramatic acting, particularly for her role alongside Ben Affleck in The Town.
In 2010, Lively jumped on the superhero train with a role in The Green Lantern.
Savages finds her playing the kidnapped shared-paramour of two pot growers. In other words, girlfriend material.
