If you've been watching the Olympics on NBC, you might've caught a glimpse of a silent beauty in the previews for the upcoming show Animal Practice. The woman in question is Joanna Garcia, actress and wife of Yankees player Nick Swisher. She'll be playing a character named Dr. Dorothy Crane on the new series. As intrigued as we were by her brief Olympic appearance? Then take a look through this bio-gallery.
Garcia grew up in Tampa, Florida.
In high school she was discovered by casting agents at Nickelodeon, and went on to star in three seasons of Are You Afraid of the Dark?
She dropped out of the University of Florida after a short time to pursue acting, and moved to Los Angeles. Her earliest jobs after the move included a recurring role on Party of Five and an appearance in Judd Apatow's short-lived but critically acclaimed Freaks and Geeks.
She later went on to appear in the series Reba for six years.
Garcia has also made appearances on How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl and Royal Pains.
She began dating Swisher in 2009, and the two were married in 2011. It's almost enough to make us root for the Yankees. Almost.
