Kate Beckinsale, star of the Underworld franchise, is sticking to her guns with a role in the similarly action-packed Total Recall remake. Beckinsale plays the wife/attempted murderess of protagonist Doug Quaid (Colin Farrell). You remember the scene from the first Recall when Sharon Stone tries to kill him in their kitchen? Now imagine Beckinsale in that role. And then take a look through this bio-gallery.
Beckinsale was born in London.
Her parents both worked as actors, and Beckinsale made her first television appearance at the age of four.
While studying at Oxford she got involved with one of the school's student theater groups.
Beckinsale moved to the United States in the late nineties and began auditioning for film roles, scoring parts in films like Pearl Harbor, Laurel Canyon and Serendipitiy.
She officially earned the title of "action star" after gaining the lead role in the first Underworld film in 2003, which gave way to the ongoing franchise.
Beckinsale's next project after Recall is a starring role in The Trials of Cate McCall, in which she plays a recovering alcoholic lawyer attempting to redeem herself by taking on a suspicious murder case. No word yet on whether her character is secretly a time-traveling vampire assassin-spy, but fingers crossed.
