Keira Knightley joins Steve Carrell for the apocalypse in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, out this week. As far as end-of-the-world friends go, we have to say Knightley would make a pretty good companion. A little wine, some music, and suddenly the mass extinction of all life as we know it doesn’t sound half bad. For now, this bio-gallery will have to do.
Knightley is best known for her work in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
A native of London, she hails from an entertainment family—her mother is a playwright and her father is an actor.
Knightley has been working professionally since childhood, and first got an agent when she was six.
Her breakthrough role came in 2003 when she starred in the British film Bend it Like Beckham, which proved to be a massive commercial success.
She was nominated for an Academy Award for her work in 2005’s Pride and Prejudice, making her the third youngest nominee in Oscar history.
In 2008 Forbes listed her as one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood; she earned $32 million in 2007.
Knightley became engaged to musician James Righton in 2012.
Later this year she'll play the titular role in a new adaptation of Anna Karenina. Sure, we'd weather the apocalypse for her, but 19th century Russia? That's a different story.
