MADE MAN: How did you get so many Twitter followers? JUSTINE EZARIK: I think I just lucked out. I found Twitter super early, in 2006. I was one of the first 7,000 people to use it. So I’ve just been really using it since the beginning, building a community and connecting with them online. That’s kind of my main passion.
MM: You make great videos of your life. Have any viral video tips? JE: Create good content. That’s the key thing. Viral video is a term that’s misused, because a lot of people on YouTube think that just because we have a lot of views on our videos that they’re viral, but we’ve built communities. It’s not necessarily a viral video. So basically, the tip is to create good content and a community.
MM: What’s been your favorite game over the years? JE: Call of Duty, Black Ops. I loved Modern Warfare 3.
MM: What makes a good game? JE: I like a lot of action and a lot of killing. I know that’s probably really awful. I like to get my game on. I like to go out on the multi-player battlefield and shoot people. That sounds so terrible! To be able to play with your friends is great. Good graphics are important, too.
MM: Is social media better than meeting a girl than a bar? JE: Oh yeah. Because you can Google them before you actually have to meet them, obviously. Cyber-stalk them!
MM: What gets your attention in a guy? JE: Maybe their kill/death ratio in Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3. It’s very important.
MM: How about their personality? JE: I just like fun people. If you’re fun to be around, I think that’s most important.
MM: What’s a turnoff? JE: If he is a PC user (unless it’s for gaming). Mac all the way. You have to be comfortable with yourself. Brush your hair, too.
MM: How many Twitter followers does a guy need before he can even consider asking you out? JE: I don’t know. At least five. I think it’s more, you have to have an avatar. Like, if you just have the default Twitter icon… you probably don’t take Twitter seriously enough.
