We never thought we’d say this, but Lifetime just might be worth watching—on Sunday nights anyway. That’s when your screen will be heated up by not only The Client List’s lovely Jennifer Love Hewitt but also by her equally hot co-star, Naturi Naughton. They play, ahem, masseuses. But Naughton—a veteran of girl group 3LW who played Lil’ Kim in the Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious—wants you to be an honest gentleman. See what we mean in this slideshow Q&A.
MADE MAN: Tell us about your character. NATURI NAUGHTON: Kendra is a young, naïve Texas girl who works at The Rub. She’s the optimistic one, always giving advice to the other girls based on her Zen lifestyle, but she struggles with some tough decisions. Her fiancé has arranged this perfect and conservative life for her, but she’s uncertain if she wants to live it. She’s still discovering herself. She represents a stage in life that so many young people go through. Where do I want to be? Do I want to get married? Who am I?
MM: How is it working with Jennifer Love Hewitt? NN: I love working with her! I really admire her. She’s got a leader’s spirit, yet she’s still so down to earth. You should see us on set. All us “spa girls” are laughing, having girl talk and just having a good time. It’s so nice because going to work every day is really a lot of fun.
MM: You’re an amazing singer. Are you working on new music? NN: No album yet, but that is something I will be doing in the future. I love writing and being creative. I am just excited to be a part of such a fabulous show!
MM: You also starred in The Playboy Club. What did you like about the guys from the time period it depicted? NN: The men were much more alluring and smooth. Chivalry was not dead, and there was real romance. I am a hopeless romantic. I am a girly girl who loves flowers and candy. Nowadays, the lines are blurred. I definitely like men from that time. I’m an old school kinda gal.
MM: What do you look for in a guy? NN: I look for him to be a gentleman and also respect my career. Some men want to be a leader. I want the man to know that I have my own dreams. So I would really like him to be supportive. And I love funny guys as well. I like having fun!
MM: Any dating dos and don’ts? NN: Listen to her. And be yourself. I don’t want to be with someone who is a fake. And don’t look at my chest all night! And don’t talk so much that you over-talk the girl at the table! Another thing, don’t put on airs or have a façade. You don’t need to prove you are leading a certain kind of life. Be the best man you can be, not just for a woman but for yourself.
