A wise man once said, “My ideal summer day was spent drinking on the porch.” OK, maybe I said that, but, either way, it sounds amazing. Life is just a little better on the porch. Cold beers, good friends and great scenery make life cruise by idly without any regard for time or purpose. And with summer (still) here, it’s prime porch season. We highly recommend spending it with the following brews.
Aspen Brewing Company Silver City Ale 4.3%: Aspen Brewing’s house session is ideal for long porch drinking sessions. Slightly sour with notes of apple, this brew also features a biscuit-like malt flavor and wheat finish that makes it light, refreshing and highly drinkable.
Good People Brewing Company JUCO 4.2%: If you’re hanging on the frat house porch this summer then JUCO is the way to go. This session IPA scores high marks for its hop-forward lemon zest flavor. However, it’s lower ABV will allow you to have a few and sprint from the porch to your summer class on time.
Deschutes Pacific Wonderland Lager 5.5%: You can’t go wrong with this American Lager from Deschutes. More like a German pils with its bright, citrus character and drinkable nature, it’s ideal for sitting on your porch and overlooking your Pacific Wonderland or whatever wonderland you have in front of you at the time.
Odell Brewing Easy Street 4.6%: Sit back and sip this smooth, unfiltered American wheat beer from Odell. It is well-balanced and easy drinking with slightly fruity banana and citrus flavors. I promise... a few of these will make life on the porch like living on Easy Street.
Samuel Adams Porch Rocker 4.5%: Everyone needs a good rocker on their porch and Sam Adams’ take on a Bavarian Radler will certainly do the trick. A traditional German Helles combined with a touch of lemonade makes for a tart but refreshing flavor that will have the entire six pack gone before you know it.
Lazy Magnolia Kiln Mississippi Gold 4.5%: Mississippi’s oldest brewery knows a little something about porch drinking. So much so, they offer a “Welcome to the Porch” series of beers, of which KMG is a part. Designed for kicking back after a long hard day, KMG will make all your troubles disappear.
New Belgium Sunshine 4.8%: Let’s be honest, no one is sitting on their porch without some sunshine, especially a cold sunshine like this beer from New Belgium. Exactly what you’d expect from a wheat beer, it’s light drinking with a honey citrus taste and a sweet finish.
Park City Brewing Porch Pounder 4.0%: This Belgian White is exactly what you’d expect out of a porch beer, light and full of flavor. With subtle yet spicy flavors of orange peel and coriander, it's the perfect beer to sip (or pound) from your porch while checking out the beautiful Wasatch Mountain views. Or just, like, the street.
Cedar Creek Brewery Patio Pounder Pale Lager 5.1%: Light and refreshing with subtle spice and bitter hop flavors balanced with biscuity malts, this lager is so tasty you’ll be pounding them back all afternoon long.
