Longer days, softer snow and beers enjoyed outdoors… what’s not to like about spring skiing? And to capitalize on an already good time and enhance the sense of community that goes hand in hand with mountain culture, many resorts host epic mountain music festivals that rival those of summer. Here are five worth hitting up over the next couple months.
Jackson Hole Rendezvous, March 16-19 at Jackson Hole, Wyoming: “With a diversity of unique venues in the Town of Jackson, Teton Village and slopeside, this festival is fun and accessible for all ages,” says Jackson Hole representative Anna Cole. Over four days a variety of musical acts from around the country will perform on multiple stages, including this year’s headliner, the multiple Grammy-winning Zac Brown Band.
Minus Zero Festival, April 7-8 at Stratton Mountain, Vermont: Ski and ride while listening to national EDM acts including Bassnectar and Griz. The music continues into the night at the many village bars and with lodging right on site, you can ski and ride all day, party all night and sleep when you’re dead.
Spring Gruv, March 25-April 9 at Park City, Utah: Park City’s 16-day music festival includes free daily apres ski concerts as well as larger concerts headlined by Crystal Fighters and MAGIC GIANT. One of the main attractions is the annual pond skimming competition, a traditional rite of spring that, when combined with great music, will make Spring Gruv unforgettable.
WinterWonderGrass, February 24-26 at Steamboat Springs, Colorado and March 31-April 2 at Squaw Valley, California: WinterWonderGrass was developed with the intention of supporting community and charity while having a really good time. Listen to bluegrass and roots musical acts from across the country while sipping regional craft beers, wines and spirits and dining on locally sourced delicious foods.
Bud Light Reggaefest, March 24-26 at Mount Snow, Vermont: Hanging with friends and listening to great music is the intention behind Reggaefest at Mount Snow. Events like the Sink or Skim pond skim and the unique Duct Tape Derby make it a fun event for the whole family. Daily and nightly concerts featuring national acts like Jon Brown’s Body and Giant Panda Guerilla Dub turn Reggaefest into a weekend-long party.
