We've all considered it at one point or another—quitting the 9-to-5, selling all of our crap and hitting the high roads to live the nomad life, off-the-grid and unencumbered by bills and the many nuances of the "real world." But alas, a life without structure can be intimidating. So every now and again, we take off on shorter getaway weekends. And the next time you do, the design team at Timberleaf Trailers in Denver, Colorado has handcrafted a super simple and compact teardrop trailer for urbanites on the run.
Starting at $15,250, this fully insulated home on wheels is made from anodized aluminium that can be painted in any color, and at under 1,200 pounds, the rig can be towed by any passenger vehicle. Add solar panels and air conditioning to transcend seasons, and even a bike rack if you're into it.
The back is what truly astounds, however. It opens up to reveal a kitchen setup complete with an assortment of shelves, cubbies and sliding cabinets.
Seriously, take a closer look. Those are 100 percent Baltic Birch, meticulously handcrafted storage units adorned with leather handles and dovetail joinery.
The custom-built 45-liter cooler (for an extra $425) is particularly notable.
The kerosene grill also slides out from its storage space.
It looks almost as good on the outside as it does on the inside...
With room to fit a queen-sized bed and natural wood folding shelves, it might even be more practical than your current living situation.
Plus, it's got plenty of storage above the bed.
And it boasts one of the largest skylights in the teardrop industry, giving you an even outdoorsier feel.
