In case you missed the news, the Dodge Viper is ending its run after 25 years. As longtime fans of the car, we’ve been trying to spend as much time as possible with the icon. We’ve road tripped from Detroit to Toronto in a Viper GT, raced a Viper ACR around a track and contemplated how we’d like to take one final run in the muscle car. The surprising conclusion? We’d rather ride shotgun—with one of Hollywood's hottest stunt doubles. Seriously, we’d be thrilled to let any of the following prestigiously credited women take the wheel…
With a résumé that includes hits like Hawaii Five-O, Furious 7 and NCIS: Los Angeles, Angela Meryl has built quite a rep as a stunt double. The New Jersey native’s performance in the opening scene of the Quentin Tarantino blockbuster Kill Bill earned her a Taurus Award for “Best Overall Stunt By a Woman.”
Cassandra McCormick has more than 100 stunt double TV show and movie credits to her name. Some of our favorites include Justified, Sons of Anarchy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Even more impressive, McCormick started her entertainment career as a dancer with Siegfried & Roy at The Mirage, which is far more dangerous than anything a Viper could throw at her.
The second we learned Janene Carleton was a stunt driver on Deadpool, we were sold on handing her the wheel. Raised in Kelowna, Canada, Carleton has also worked on Godzilla, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, to name a few of her credits.
Hailing from Edmonton, Monique Ganderton has built quite a rep for herself as a stunt double. She started her career doing action work for actresses like Nicole Kidman and Sigourney Weaver. More recently, she has doubled for Charlize Theron in the upcoming Fast 8 and Cara Delevingne in Suicide Squad.
Michelle Lee doubles as a full-fledged actress, with a list of credits that includes Mortal Kombat Legacy 2 and CSI. But it’s her stunt work in movies like Pacific Rim, Olympus Has Fallen and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides that has us eager to take a ride with her.
Alicia Vela-Bailey’s credits reads like a superhero sizzle reel, with work in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Most Wanted, Iron Man and X-Men: First Class. Her latest gig? Stunt doubling for Gal Gadot in next year’s Wonder Woman.
Sara Holden’s stunt credits include Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Man of Steel and one of our all-time favorite shows, Sons of Anarchy. Having recently wrapped stunt-double work on the big-screen version of CHiPs that hits theaters next year, Holden is now working on Transformers: The Last Knight. And considering she’s a native of Detroit, she’s bound to have a lot of experience with American muscle cars.
