The 8th annual Hunging and Equestirian Exhibition is this week in Abu Dhabi, and it’s being put on by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He’s the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers’ Club, so you can imagine that there’s some pretty luxuriant outdoor gear here. Probably the tip top of that glossy iceberg, though, is the gold-plated, bespoke Gold Edition Royal Beast dune buggies.
These custom-built safari vehicles are just about as plush as you can be while ‘roughing it’ on the hunt. Remote-controlled scissor Lambo-style doors open to reveal fully ostrich-leather interior ensconcing two plasma screen televisions, and 8-speaker surround sound system, and a high-intensity light bar above the windscreen.
The real kicker, though, is that the body and wheels have several gold-plated units under a stylish veneer of black, red and yellow paint. There are only two of these vehicles in the world, and the information plaque at the exhibition not only didn’t tell viewers how much they could expect to pay for them (if you have to ask…) they didn’t even reveal the name of the manufacturers. Now that’s an exclusive hunting trip.
