Gwen Stefani turned 42 yesterday, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at her—the pop superstar, fashionista and lead singer of No Doubt is still a bona fide hottie. In honor of her birthday (and her ongoing sexiness) here’s a gallery of Miss Stefani at her best.

Stefani is a Southern California native, born and raised Anaheim. Her first onstage performance was at a talent show at her high school.

In 1986, Stefani began singing lead vocals for ska band No Doubt.

The band was signed to Interscope Records in 1991, though it would be a few more years before they saw success.

Early in her career, Stefani contributed backing vocals on the Sublime track “Saw Red.” This was before either No Doubt or Sublime had achieved fame.

No Doubt blew up in 1995 with the release of their third album, Tragic Kingdom. The lead single “Just a Girl” saw significant radio airtime.

Stefani launched her solo career in 2004 with the album Love. Angel. Music. Baby.

She cites Madonna, Debbie Harry of Blondie and the female grunge artists of the early 1990s as major influences.

Stefani is married to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, whom she met while on tour in 1995.

Between her solo career and her work with No Doubt, Stefani has sold over 40 million albums worldwide.
