Good news for US Soccer fans and fans of USA gold medals: Carli Lloyd is still on fire. The woman who scored a hat trick in last summer’s World Cup final is still knocking in goals at an absurd rate for the red, white and blue. This past week in Rio at the Olympics, the captain Lloyd scored a goal in both wins for the US, with her goal against a very good France squad on Saturday ultimately giving her team the 1-0 victory. Incredibly, it was her 27th goal in the past 28 games for the national team.
All of which is to say: She’s really damn good. So we were stoked to catch up to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year shortly before she headed off to Rio. Check out Carli’s interactions with Made Man Deputy Editor Shawn Donnelly in this installment of The Donnelly Show above. And cheer on the USWNT as they continue to strive for gold in Rio, starting with tomorrow night’s game against Colombia (6pm ET, NBCSN).
