For those who stopped watching Dancing With The Stars after Metta World Peace got booted, this year’s surprise winner is worth celebrating. Before the competition, few people had heard of J.R. Martinez, an actor and war veteran who suffered severe burns to more than 40 percent of his body while on duty in Iraq in 2003. Meanwhile his pro partner, the lovely Karina Smirnoff, had never triumphed in 10 seasons on the show. But Martinez’s enthusiasm and energy—combined with Smirnoff’s Playboy-worthy hotness—won over the judges and viewers, and the pair captured the DWTS Season 13 title last night. Congrats, guys. For very different reasons, you make us proud to be Americans. Dare ya to watch this vid and not get goosebumps.
