He plays a bartender in New Girl. He consumed a lot of beer in Drinking Buddies. So when we ran into Speakeasy guest Jake Johnson at a Stella Artois Perfect Draft event, we had just one major question: What’s your No. 1 bartending tip? As you might expect, he had strong feelings on the subject…

“I used to actually be a bartender. With beer, it’s all about the tilt. So if you don’t know how to tilt the beer, you’re gonna be in trouble. You should learn that when you’re doing kegs when you’re 19, 20. That tilt is the same exact tilt. The same tilt with [Perfect Draft]. Forty-five degrees and then the last inch and a half you turn it. But my real tip with booze is that you don’t work for the bar… you work for the customer. So pour ’em stiff drinks. Because you’re making three dollars an hour from the bar. If you pour somebody a stiff cocktail, you’ll probably get a bigger tip. If I’m the bartender, I pour ’em stiff.”

’Nuff said.
